Microsoft Phone, commonly called Windows Phone 7 is an operating system that is designed to work on cellphones and other hand-held communication devices such as Personal Digital Assistants. Unlike its previous versions, it is targeted mainly to the consumer-end of the market rather than the business or enterprise end of the market segment. Kinect on the other hand is an Xbox 360 accessory ?which is basically a computer game that is manufactured, owned and marketed by Microsoft Company. It is designed to work on almost all platforms such as Personal Computer, Cellphones and on video-game consoles similar to that of Sony PlayStation 3.
Recently, Microsoft Corporation ?the manufacturer of both Microsoft Phone and Kinect video-game, announced plans to enable two people using devices that have Windows Phone 7 Operating System installed on them to play a Kinect game at the same time ?in future.
This arose out of the fact that Kinect video game requires a considerably larger play space. This is because it is controlled not by pressing of buttons and keys, but by use of body language, gestures and voice prompts. Further to that, most games in the Xbox 360 device, require two, and in some instances, multiple players to effect. People who live in smaller rooms such as those in apartments and single houses may not find it exciting after all.
However, with the introduction of this technology, it would be very possible to overcome all those challenges. The technology works by way of integrating mobile devices that have Microsoft Phone 7 Operating System installed on them with Xbox Live ?which is an Xbox 360 Accessory that provides Internet gaming support for users of the Xbox 360 and the players of Kinect game respectively. Through this integration, users are able to see each friend's activities and play certain games in real time. It supports five languages notably: Spanish, Italian, English, French and German.
In order to reach out to a wider market base with the said technology, Microsoft Corporation has partnered with several electronics consumer manufacturing company to have the Microsoft Windows-phone 7 pre-installed on their devices. Such companies include LG ?which is a Korean-based television manufacturer whose popular brands include LG TV.
It is estimated by the said company that devices which have Windows Phone 7 installed on them, had, by the year ended 2010 been accessible in sixty carriers spread across thirty countries. They estimate that with the introduction of the technology, Microsoft Corporation had achieved an additional two-percent market share ?a figure that is likely to rise as time goes by and as the adoption of the said feature occurs in earnest.
