On July 7, 2009, Google Inc has proclaimed the Google Chrome Computer project to develop a light computer computer devoted for the world wide web.
The new Operating System will be based on Google's Chrome internet browser and the Linux kernel. Initially, it will target netbooks and can be released during your second half of 2010. It will run on systems using either x86 or SUPPLY processors.
The company has stated the fact that Google Chrome Operating System project will likely be an open source by end of 2009. Although, it is based for the Linux kernel, it uses "a new windowing system". The Chrome Operating System is targeted at users who spend most of their time on the Internet and is designed to run on computers which range from netbooks to desktop desktops.
Operating System Partners
Google is working with several companies to develop devices around the new Chrome Operating Product, including Hewlett-Packard and Acer. The list also includes Lenovo plus Asus, but interestingly Dell is out. However, Dell has announced to help tests the upcoming operating system, but did not shell out for Linux-based OS products and solutions in future.
Among the mobile chip developers, Google includes formed a nexus by using Qualcomm, Texas Instruments and Freescale Semiconductor. Although, Intel was not among the partner-companies prior declered, but the chip brewer has claimed that it has been working with Google on its upcoming main system.
Google Operating System: Challenge for Microsoft & Intel
Google抯 entry into the market could represent a new threat to Intel along with x86. Various analysts predict that Intel抯 dominance while in the PC market has blamed on the lack of viable substitute products for the purpose of Microsoft抯 Office applications. While Linux and alternative OS have challenged Windows in the past and recently in laptops, these attempts have partially failed because of the lack of adequate productivity software that is acceptable and familiar that will consumers.
For Intel, the success of new OS could lead to modest market share reduction, as the chip maker could be forced to compete with a number of new, low-cost entrants which usually are running on less margins as compared to Intel.
The new OS is best part about it for all computer owners. It certainly helps around loosening Microsoft抯 grip on the PC market and guarantees lower prices, higher excellence and smarter design.

In a Telly interview, Google CEO Eric Schmidt claimed that the company's new Chrome Computer would eventually be on "millions" of personal computers and might eventually take users clear of Microsoft Windows. Schmidt also added, "It's certainly also possible that Microsoft will change its strategy to treat that. "
